COSMO Lenses: the Space has never been so Compact

Light is essential for the perception of the world around us. In the same way, the well governed lighting is fundamental for a correct understanding of the environment we live in and how we relate to it.
Here, the lighting technology, which defines and controls the parameters of a lighting project, plays a crucial role. The designer of a lens for LED Lighting must be a highly specialized and well-trained engineer. His design must be comprehensive, aimed at a total-view lighting project, that considers the final application to which it is intended. He knows that the lens needs to optimize the luminous flux of the LED. But he also knows that his optical design is essential for an effective lighting that meets the lighting project it was designed for: creating an environment, evoking a certain atmosphere, shifting the attention on a specific area, emphasizing a specific function or peculiarity pertaining to that area.

COSMO offers the possibility to create a lighting project able to fully meet the requirements of the optical design while intervening in the final application environment in a specific way.

COSMO Low Profile Lenses are a family of optics specially designed for COB LEDs with LES ranging 6 to 22mm Ø.

Based on a typical TIR-Fresnel lens design, the optic divides the light emitted by the LED in multiple sectors, than spreading it over a single surface. The luminous flux is so distributed homogenuously on the surfaces, resulting in a supreme uniformity of the illuminating surface. Also, by exploiting the entire output surface in a homogeneous and balanced way, glare is considerably reduced.

COSMO Lenses are available in 3 sizes – 50, 70 and 90 mm – complying with the requirements of MR16, PAR30, AR111 standards, and realized with a very thin lateral profile. The typical TIR-Fresnel design reduces significantly the lens height, resulting in a unique “Low Profile” design. Depending on the model, height ranges from 10 mm in the 50 mm diameter version, to 14 mm in the 70 mm diameter version, up to 18 mm in the 90 mm diameter version. Each diameter size is available with three beam angles: Narrow, Medium and Wide.
The value of the beam angles as well as the field angle depend on the size of the LES of the COB LED you will use.

Every model of COSMO lenses can be equipped with a holder, available in 2 colours, clear transparent and black, enabling easy mounting on the heatsink. Anyway, COSMO lenses also allow a standalone assembly by leveraging the mechanical parts of the lighting fixture.

COSMO lenses exhibit an excellent optical performance, up to 90% efficiency, and offer a unique compact design for demanding applications such as recessed lighting or spot lighting, where reduced size and utmost illumination, uniform and without any glaring effect, are crucial elements.
